The “retail mindset” is a perpetuation of stereotypes and expectations. Customers don't expect a good experience. Managers don't expect to hire great employees. Employees don't look at their jobs as something that will improve their career but rather a way to just get paid. Most view retail as a substandard opportunity. 

The truth is that retail is still the single largest industry and largest contributor to the U.S. economy. There are over *10 million people that work in retail as sales associates, cashiers or food service workers. This translates into a majority of workers experiencing long hours, poor wages, low expectations, little to no accountability, direction or mentoring which results in a depressed career outlook. Keep in mind, these are the same people that interact and communicate with millions of customers each year. This is unacceptable. 

Cambeo’s mission is to eradicate the retail mindset and mediocrity through measuring and raising the performance of an organization’s greatest assets, its employees. We know that an amazing customer experience can’t happen without an amazing employee experience.



Vaughn peterson, ceo

Prior to creating Cambeo, Vaughn served for more than three years as the Executive Vice President over Sales and Alliances for NexTalk, a leading communication software provider for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Before NexTalk, he spent more than seven years at Attensity, a text-analytics software company working as the Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Government Systems.   

Vaughn also has significant experience in human resources serving as a Vice President of HR for Tenfold and Fortune 500 company Nortel Networks, where he worked for ten years at Nortel Networks, serving in several executive positions including Vice President, organization development and Vice President of human resources for the Asia Pacific Region while based in Hong Kong. 

Vaughn has a BS in Psychology from BYU and a Master of Organizational Behavior from the BYU’s Marriott School of Management.

Former Technical Director of Data Architecture at TDW. Former Technical Founder and CTO of Attensity. Helped design and build the initial Cambeo platform. Developed Attensity’s first use of cloud computing replacing their in-house data center. Master’s in Management Information Systems from University of Arizona/PhD in Computer Science & bachelor’s degree in French Arabic from University of Utah. Teaches web architectures as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah’s School of Computing, rebuilds tractors and welds stuff together

VP of Sales for Bidysync where he built a sales team and strategy from scratch before it was acquired by Periscope Holdings. Sales leader for Microsoft managing the largest single sales area in the U.S. for the company . Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Launched BAMBA water product in Kenya. Worked on ad campaigns for such brands as Burger King, Volkswagen, Haggar and Orville Redenbacher Holds MFA from Art Center College of Design, a bachelor’s degree in Communications / Advertising from Brigham Young University and fluent in Tagalog. Former Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp and a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom
